Gerald and Eileen Beattie established their furnishing business in 1993 and quickly built up a reputation as a quality provider of soft furnishings and flooring, becoming a market leader in the field. For many years the Beattie's enjoyed operating from their Halifax Street premises but in 2008 they were offered an opportunity they couldn't turn down. Gerald joined the Flooring Xtra buying group and subsequently expanded the company by moving to the Raeward Fresh Complex in Richmond. Gerald and Hubbers were able to access a more extensive range of product, but were still able to remain 100% locally owned and operated.

Since joining the Flooring Xtra buying group, Hubbers have gone on to win the Flooring Xcellence award, in the South Island. And recently they have been named the New Zealand Cavalier Bremworth Regional City Dealer of the Year for 2010!
