Cleaning and care

Like all good things, Luxaflex products need a little love and care. We have dedicated this section to the maintenance of your Luxaflex® window shades so that they remain as clean and attractive as the day you got them. Like anything in the home, your shades are subject to regular dust and dirt. To find out about the best cleaning solution for your type of window shades, check out the information below.

Roller Blinds & Sunscreens

Dusting with a feather duster is all that is required to keep rollershades looking good.

For the removal of dirt and grime, simply wipe fabric skins with a sponge soaked in lukewarm water. If marks are still visible add a little detergent, then dry gently with a clean cloth.

Aluminium Venetians

Weekly dusting with a feather duster is recommended. You can also carefully use a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment.

For the removal of built-up dirt and grime, we recommend professional cleaning. Many venetian cleaning companies can provide same-day service.

Timber Venetians

Weekly dusting with a feather duster is recommended. You can also carefully use a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment.

Professional cleaning companies can treat timber slats with an anti-static solution to reduce future dust build-up.

Woodmates® Venetians

Weekly dusting with a feather duster is recommended. You can also carefully use a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment.

For the removal of built-up dirt and grime, we recommend professional cleaning. Most venetian cleaning companies can provide same-day service.

Duette® Shades

Duette® Shades are made from anti-static, dust-resistant fabric that repels dirt and dust. Most Duette® Shades fabrics can be cleaned in the following ways.

Regular light dusting with a feather duster or soft cloth maintains a like-new appearance. For more thorough cleaning, vacuum gently with a brush attachment.

Some fabrics can be spot cleaned (check with your stockist). Prepare a solution of warm water and a mild detergent. Dampen a clean white cloth in the solution and wring it out. Dab the spot with the dampened cloth until it is gone. Blot gently to avoid creasing or damaging the fabric. Do not rub the fabric. Allow the shade to dry in the completely lowered position. Do not spot-clean Batiste fabrics.

Professional ultrasonic cleaning services are an effective means of cleaning translucent Duette® Shades fabrics only. Blockout Duette® Shades fabrics cannot be ultrasonically cleaned.

Duette® Architella® Shades

Duette® Architella® Shades are made from anti-static, dust-resistant fabric that repels dirt and dust. Most Duette® Architella® Shades fabrics can be cleaned in the following ways.

Regular light dusting with a feather duster or soft cloth maintains a like-new appearance. For more thorough cleaning, vacuum gently with a brush attachment.

PolySatin® Shutters

For shutters with SmartView and ClearView, gently grasp a louvre blade in the middle of the panel and move the louvre to the
closed position. Run your hand over the louvres to close them completely.

PowerView® Motorisation - This innovative wireless system allows you to tilt the louvres on your shutters via remote control, the
PowerView app on a smart device or even by voice command as they seamlessly integrate with other popular smart home systems.

PolySatin® Shutters are made from a non-toxic polyresin compound, making them durable and easy to clean.

NON-MOTORISED Shutters - The surfaces of the shutters will collect a layer of surface dust over time. Normal dusting with a damp soft cloth will remove this accumulation.

Timber Shutters

Weekly dusting with a feather duster is recommended. You can also carefully use a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment.

Slats can be wiped with a soft damp cloth.

Vertical Blinds

Cleaning requirements are minimal because Vertical blades don’t provide ‘shelves’ for dust. An occasional wipe with a damp cloth is all that’s needed.

For the removal of built-up dirt and grime, we recommend professional cleaning. Many blind cleaning companies can provide same-day service.

Pleated Blinds

Luxaflex® Pleated Blinds are anti-static, so they repel dust and dirt.

Dusting or vacuuming an average of twice per year is sufficient to keep blinds in good condition.

When using a vacuum cleaner, set it to a gentle level of suction and use an attachment with a soft brush.
