The (sometimes) surprising impact of the sun around your home
The sun is an excellent source of natural light, but with that comes UV and heat. In just the right quantities, these offer a flurry of benefits, even going as far as to improve our health and wellbeing or save us money on heating. These are big wins, but the sun often proves to be too much of a good thing in excess.
This is particularly true in summer. Due to things like the suns angle and NZ’s clear skies during this time, sun exposure is at its peak, making for long hot days with index topping UV levels — the downsides of which can include:
- Pesky sunburns
- Uncomfortably warm temperatures
- Unwanted fading of our favourite decor
- Increased energy bills, and
- Poor, interrupted sleep.
Fortunately, some simple remedies exist.
